Surprizingly, Chimoio is quite organised - having its own airstrip, the citys electricity is supplied by a hydroelectric-power plant which is generated by the Revuè river, close by ... a few industrial facilities include: steel factories, cotton / sisal processing plant, a large textile mill, sawmills and the surrounding agricultural land produces a large vareity of vegetables and fruits. All this creates job oppotunities and Chimoio has attracted quite a few Zimbabwean immigrants who want to work in Mozambique.

Although this is not a major tourist destination, Chimoio is still a very beautiful place in Mozambique with a few tourist attractions for the traveller to see:

A place you must visit is Lake Chicamba - a huge and stunning lake about 50km to the west of Chimoio. Accommodation is available at the dam and you can take a canoe out and spot crocodiles that inhabit the lake. There are some great view spots further inland from the dam that have fantastic panoramic views of the dam and lush surroundings.
About 4km North East of Chimoio is popular rock formation / side profile of an old mans face, called, Cabeça do Velho (“Face of the Old Man”) aproximately 500m long and 200m wide.
A little to the East of Chimoio is the well looked after "Old windmill (Antigo moinho de vento).

A few very good Hotels and Self Catering accommodation establishments can also be found in Chimoio.
