On the mainland, a short boat transfer from Vilanculos town, Dugong Lodge stands on a long beach.
It has ten large tented suites with polished wooden floors, and an en-suite bathroom with a huge bath and an outdoor shower. The central lounge dining area is open on one side to a sundeck, inset with a small freshwater pool.
Activities possible here, payable locally, include fishing and scuba diving, although the best reefs are distant – around the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Dugong Beach Lodge in Mozambique is ideal for honeymooners, offering the tranquillity of miles and miles of secluded white sandy beaches, an ocean panorama broken only by the characteristic dhows and the Dolphins. Private dining facilities are available under a gazebo at the end of the jetty, where you can watch perfect African sunsets. |

General Information
Due to the remoteness of Dugong Beach Lodge power is obtained from a generator which is situated on site. The generator does not operate 24 hours a day so from time to there is no power. Generally it operates for a few hours in the morning and then as the sun begins to set until approximately half an hour after the last guest has gone to bed.
Water is obtained from a borehole and is slightly discoloured. The water has been professionally tested and although it is safe for drinking, mineral water will be placed in the rooms daily. A boat transfer to Dugong Beach Lodge is recommended and takes approximately 30 minutes. Transfers can be booked at an additional cost at the time of making a reservation.
