Marlin Lodge is situated on the south western shore of Benguerua Island, second largest of the four main islands that form the Bazaruto Archipelago off the Mozambican coast. This luxury private island lodge offers 17 sea-facing suites with direct access to the beach, a host of exhilarating activities and delectable cuisine.
Mozambican hardwood, reed-clad brick walls and thatched ‘jecca’ roofs create a lodge that sits in perfect harmony with its pristine natural surroundings.
The natural plant life is carefully preserved by elevated wooden walkways that connect the 14 seascape Luxury Beach Chalets and three Executive Beach Suites to the main areas.

| LUXURY BEACH SUITES Luxury Beach Suites for cosy and intimate accommodation. Marlin Lodge offers a total of 14 Luxury Beach Suites, each with a sea-view and only a few steps from the white sands of Flamingo Bay beach. Each 60 m² Beach Suite has a 17 m² veranda, perfect for a private dinner or lunch for two, or for watching a breathtaking Mozambican sunset. The Beach Suites have practical yet sophisticated designer finishes, including slated flooring, plastered surfaces and soft lighting. Each Beach Suite features: * En suite bathroom * Shower * Roof fan * Air-conditioning * Four-poster bed with mosquito netting * His and her basins and vanity area * Inside & outside showers * Open-plan bathroom (including shower facility) * Private lounge * Private veranda with deck chairs * Mini bar * 2 lounges * Privacy and direct access to the beach *We accommodate a maximum of 2 guests per Private Luxury Suite. EXECUTIVE BEACH SUITES These spacious suites have their own inimitable style... resonating with Afro-chic elegance and refined furnishings. Earthen creams and oceanic blues blend in perfect harmony with the island’s ambience, while softly lapping waves and palm-hushed breezes ensure a restful night’s sleep to soothe and renew. The Executive Beach Suite's sheer size makes it unique. With over 80 m² of floor space and a 30 m² veranda, this suite is the perfect haven for the discerning visitor. Marlin Lodge stretches along the pure white beach of Flamingo Bay, with sea-facing suites located on both sides of the main buildings.
All areas are selectively decorated and furnished, complete with designer finishes. The reception lounge Marlin Lodge's welcoming hub offers a lounge for relaxing and a well stocked curio shop. The reading lounge Well spaced sitting areas, a small library and board games make it the ideal retreat when the weather doesn’t play along. The open-air dining room Marlin Lodge's main dining venue offers uninterrupted sea views, fresh air to tickle your palate and mouth-watering food. The cocktail lounge area Chill with a refreshing drink on a hot day or celebrate the sunset in the open-air bar area. The pool area Cool off in Marlin Lodge’s sparkling 11-metre pool or relax on a lounger in the shade of Ilala palms and large umbrellas. The business centre Marlin Lodge offers a small business centre where guests can make use of laptop and complimentary internet facilities. |

In the dining room, on the beach under the stars, or privately on your veranda, a meal prepared by Marlin Lodge's chefs will tantalise your senses and leave a lasting impression. Our Chefs Since Marlin Lodge’s opening in 1997, we’ve had the privilege to experience local Mozambican chefs’ unique culinary skills, flavoured with their passion for food. Chef for a day at Marlin Lodge Marlin Lodge is not just about beautiful beaches, luxurious accommodation and azure waters – Marlin Lodge is also about the life experience you have on an African Island.At Marlin we are all for relaxation and taking things slow, even cooking! We are avid supporters of the slow food movement, and invite guests to experience this with us at the lodge. Marlin Lodge’s kitchen boasts with both local and international chefs who will give you a personal Mozambican Chef Experience in three easy steps. 1. A guided tour with our Executive Head Chef of our very own home grown vegetable and herb gardens where an array of fresh herbs, fruit and vegetables are harvested and used in most of our dishes. 2. One will be educated in the various methods of bringing out the best possible flavors in the chosen dish, as well as the most effective way of preparation. 3. Then moving to the kitchen to prepare and cook a three course meal that will entice both friends and family back home. We encourage our guests to request recipes of their favorite Marlin cuisine whilst staying at the lodge, as we want the Marlin Lodge experience to carry on in their own homes. These hands on lessons are held on a Tuesday and Friday every week at 11am and last about an hour and a half. |

| Marlin Lodge is located off the coast of Mozambique, a 20-minute boat excursion from the mainland town of Vilanculos.
There are three modes of travelling to Vilanculos: * Flying by scheduled flight from OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, South Africa. Flights depart at 10:15 daily and arrive at Vilanculos at 12:30. Flights can be booked online at www.travelnetafrica.com or through our head office. * Self-drive to Vilanculos, which is approximately 810 km north of the capital city of Maputo. We offer a secure complimentary parking bay in Vilanculos. * Guests can opt to charter a private plane through a selected company, or fly with a privately owned aircraft. We offer a minibus transfer from Vilanculos International airport to the harbour, followed by a boat charter transfer from Vilanculos Harbour to Marlin Lodge. Travel time is 20 - 30 minutes, depending on weather conditions. Guests arriving from Vilanculos harbour Daily set departure time is between approximately 13:30 and 14:30. These times depend on the number of guests arriving, the passport control and the flight arrival times. Guests departing from Marlin Lodge Departure between 11:00 and 11:15 The above is weather and guest transfer dependent, and might change without prior notice. In order to keep the transfer costs reasonable, guests will be transferred to and from Marlin Lodge at the above-mentioned times, even if they arrive or depart on a flight other than Pelican Air. This includes private charters. If guests are departing from Vilanculos before approximately 13:30, they will be required to pay for a private transfer, e.g. some LAM flights leave at 10:00 in the morning and guests are required to check in at approximately 8:30. We offer Marlin Lodge guests a private air-conditioned lounge at Vilanculos International Airport with refreshments, snacks and shower facilities while waiting for departing flights. Guests coming to Marlin Lodge from other local lodges or driving to Vilanculos They will have to meet our representatives at the airport lounge or at the harbour at the above set times. Unless a private transfer is pre-booked, guests will transfer at the above-mentioned times. This can be booked, but is charged at a different rate. Please enquire upon booking. |
