When the ferry arrives ... hop on and take advantage of the view and birdlife as you drift across the wide Incomati river. Taking approximately 10-20 minutes ... you will soon dock at the other side where you can start your engines and make way towards the ocean on a dirt road. As you drive along, you will drive past 2 left turns that take you further North of the Incomati river where accommodation is available. carry on driving and you will soon come to a T-junction which also has accommodation available in either direction (both beautiful localtions).

The beaches here are magnificent and if you travel South to Ponta da Macaneta, you will find a shipwreck aswell as it is a great spot for shark fishing. From here you will also beable to see Xefina Island.

From Marracuene ... you can take a day boat cruise to Xefina Island, which is about a 24km trip South, towards Maputo. If you have the time, experiencing a ride on the Incomati river and exploring Xefina island is a must. Bring your Binoculars because you will witness an abundance of birdlife including flamingo's along the way.

The Fascinating Xefina island used to be a prison back in the colonial days and today, you can climb on top of massive cannons that were used to protect the Maputo harbour from intruders in World War 2. Accommodation can also be found on Xefina Island.
