Insect reprellents such as Peaceful Sleep, Tabard and Citronella Oil are strongly advised. Also mosquito coils. Although there are not many mosquitoes due to the onshore breeze from the sea, there are palm flies that bite and the best repellent for these is Citronella Oil. It is advisable to wear long sleeved shirts and light cotton longs on summer evenings |

A coasting vessel of Arabia, East Africa, and the Indian Ocean. It generally has one mast and a lateen sail. In Mozambique, the locals use this for for various purposes, eg: transportation, fishing, tours and services for tourists for a reasonable fee. Inhambane's harbour still has the largest fleet of working dhow's to this day! |

Situated approximately 20km from the Beautiful blue seas of the Indian ocean and on the banks of the Rio dos Bons Sinais river (also known as "river of good signs" - named by Vasco da Gama) ... a population of about 1 million people inhabit the city.

Quelimane was found back in the early 15th centuary as a Swahili trading city and today the city acts as an important terminal for Mozambiques interior exporting products such as sisal, tea, palm products, Fish (Shrimp and Prawns in particular) and Quelimane has one of the largest coconut plantations in the world, which is a 20 minute drive to a beach, East of Quelimane!
The city has all the main Facilities and supplies including a domestic airport, 2 large hospitals, cathedral, mosques, a university, major car dealerships, Banks, ATM's, supermarkets, local markets that sell fresh produce and seafood, quaint side street cafés, excellent restaurants, very comfortable accommodation and more.

The city has mixture of old colonial architecture and modern infrastructure, and a lot of the population in Quelimane and in the Northern parts of Mozambique as well...are Islamic. With a large Islamic community, you will find quite a few Mosques.
If you take a drive North East from Quelimane, you will end up on a beautiful beach called Zalala beach. White sands stretch for miles in either direction. Accommodation available here.
